Playing Chess
Haha..check out their unbelievable speed at the end of the game. I admired that they can still continue in this kind of situation. Nice game!!
I would like to write a little about chess manner during a competition. As we all know, playing chess needs thinking and planning. So, talking to your opponent about something unnecessary or unrelated during the game is considered as rude. It is because one are disturbing the other opponent. Yup, I always ignore the person who is purposely talk to me especially when my time is running. Four ways to keep her quite:
a) ignore her
b) tell her pls be quite
c) give her an uninviting look
d) call an arbiter to warn the player
Shakes hand before and after the game. Means that we are friend, and are not having a war.
Beware! If your opponent make a big sigh after he/she makes a move which is obvious to draw your attention. Most probably, he or she is making a false hint to you, telling that his/her move is wrong. And you will like so happy as the pieces seems going to fall into your hand. But actually they may have other planning for their moves. If the person really make a wrong moves, he/she might as well keep quiet so that you wont be aware of his/her mistake, right?
Here is my experience during "Catur Terbuka"
Mr A : Aiseh man!
Me : ....
Mr A : Habis lo!
Me : ....
Mr A : Awak tak nampakkah?
Me : Tak nampak.
Mr A : Hahaha
Me : ....
Mr A : haihhhh~~
I just make my own move
Mr A : Haha..nasib awak tak nampak
Me : Ya, saya betul-betul tak nampak, nanti lepas game ni boleh beritahu saya apa yang awak nampak? Ok ya! Lepas game ini ya.
After the game...
Me : Oh ya, boleh encik beritahu apa yang awak nampak? (while i try to arrange the pieces back as i am also curious of what he saw)
Mr A: Tak adalah, tadi saya salah tengok.
Me: ....
So, whatever sound that person makes, you just ignore it and stay focus to the game. Believe in yourself. oh ya, better ask him to keep quite if you are having a complicated strategy.
Remember, if your opponent touch the piece and let go without moving it, say "touchmove". No matter what excuses he/she use, the piece have to be move. Except, she said clearly "adjust" BEFORE touching the piece. and usually one need to ask permission from opponent to adjust the piece.
Ya, never say 'touchmove' if the person only touch the piece and dont even let go. In fact, the person may really want to make the move. So, please stay calm.
So, I hope new player will not fall to those tricks and at the same time respect your opponent. Play fair.
